Professional Standards

Fife Constabulary aims to deliver the highest standard of policing while acting in a professional, caring and sensitive manner. Occasionally, this high standard of service falls short of the expectations of the public and of Fife Constabulary itself.
The Professional Standards Department co-ordinates the investigation of complaints against members of our Force. The Department acts on behalf of and reports directly to the Deputy Chief Constable, who has overall responsibility for disciplinary matters within the Force.

In addition to undertaking information gathering and analysis in relation to allegations of inpropriety against Police staff, the department attempts to identify opportunities for improvement in service delivery. It also contributes to the training of Probationary Constables and other officers at significant milestones in their careers.
