Data Protection Scam

 
Companies/agencies within Fife have recieved letters from what are alleged to be Data Protection Agency Services, or similar, requesting payment of £95 to register them with the Information Commissioner under the Data Protection Act. 1998
 
Any company required by law to do so can in fact register directly with the Information Commissioner for £40 at http://www.ico.gov.uk
 
Should you receive one of these letters pass it on to The Consumer and Business Education Team, Trading Standards Service, Fife Council, Kingdom House, Kingdom Avenue, Glenrothes, KY7 5LY.
