St Andrews University Liaison
PC 463 Carolanne
Hazelwood
In February 1999, I started my career with Grampian Police where
I was stationed in various areas covering the City of Aberdeen. I
enjoyed my time in Aberdeen and found the job was always demanding
but extremely varied. My time in Aberdeen gave me an insight into
problems relating to policing a large city.
In 2001, I transferred to Fife Constabulary initially as a beat
officer working in St Andrews. The difference in policing was
enormous, however what I found really quickly is anti-social
behaviour comes in different forms and it doesn’t matter if it
involves addicts abusing drugs on your doorstep or someone parking
over your driveway, to the person suffering, both incidents can
have the same affect on your life.
I then joined the Community Team and worked in both St Andrews
then moved to Tay Coast.
During my time with the Community Team I have worked with many
of the different partner agencies which has helped me achieve one
of my objectives and that is delivering the best service I can to
the local community.
I have recently taken over the role of University Liaison
Officer and since moving back to St Andrews, I have noticed that
the officers who work in this area are all highly motivated and
striving towards increasing public trust, confidence and
satisfaction.
I hope that the experience and knowledge I have gained
throughout my service, especially my time as a Community Officer,
will assist me in giving the best service to the students,
residents and visitors to St Andrews. In my role I will be
promoting Personal Safety amongst the students and also
highlighting the community needs and expectations.
